Both our single gender and our master tournaments were generating interest, so we thought to ourselves, why not do both? Hence, our Masters Open and Women tournament, with the Masters Women Division presented by Lore!

The Women’s Division featured 10 teams, with some close games and some not so close games. To kick off the day we had a close matchup between Love Handles and Young Masters, which would see Love Handles teach these newly minted masters a thing or two in a close 14-13 victory. Young Masters bounced back with a 19-10 win against Quartettes, while meanwhile Love Handles learned their own lesson in their next game with a tough 12-11 loss to Spiced Girls.

Spiced Girls played consistently throughout the day, scoring either 10, 12, or 14 points each game. They fought hard but had two tough games against Pretty in Pink and Joy Huck Club, who would finish the tournament first and second, respectively. Both of those teams ended up going 5-0, with a strong push at the end of the day by Minions & Misfits threatening to ruin Pretty in Pink’s perfect record. But Pretty in Pink held out for a 16-15 win and took home the crown!

The Thursday Crew sported a solid 4-1 record, with a loss to Joy Huck Club preventing them from the perfect 5-0. If the tournament had been on a Thursday, maybe they would have come out on top. Nevertheless, they didn’t let this loss bring down their spirits, or spirit, and ended the tournament first in spirit! Congratulations to the Thursday Crew!

Randos! got off on the wrong foot, with a decisive loss to Pretty in Pink. However, they closed the gap the next two games, with close games against the Thursday Crew and Joy Huck Club. A win against Foxx started what could have been an impressive win streak, but unfortunately for them, there was one game left after that. Foxx, like Randos!, had a slower start to their day but found their groove by the third game with a win over Love Handles, and managed to end the day on a high note with a win over Young Masters.

In our Open Division, 6 teams faced off and showed that they’ve still got it. Torontosaurus Rex, the spirit champions, got off to a rough start, so they pulled together for their third game. They made things interesting, but Full Field Huckers still managed to come out on top. Full Field Huckers had a solid performance, going 3-2 on the day and posed the biggest challenge for the tournament champions, Fannypack, with a close 18-14 game. Fannypack breezed through the rest of their games to end the day undefeated.

We won’t comment on how old is SuperOld, but we will say that they were doing just fine without needing to learn any new tricks. With some large victories, SuperOld came in second with a 4-1 record. While Fannypack was giving SuperOld their first (and last) loss of the day, TBD and Fours of Babylon were competing in a close match, where TBD squeaked out on top with a 2-point victory. Immediately after that though, TBD fell to Full Field Huckers by the same difference. Fours of Babylon left it all on the field in their final game and was able to walk away with a well-earned win.

And with that, our final 4v4 tournament of the season comes to an end. We can’t wait to see how things shape up next year!
